The MoCA has a greater emphasis on attention and executive function than the MMSE that is commonly used to screen for cognitive impairments.įor those with mild deficits, the MoCA appears to be more sensitive for those with high premorbid IQ, non-AD dementia and early stages of dementia. This review is not exhaustive, but focused on initial development of the measure and its use with persons with stroke to determine possible appropriateness of the measure for use with TBI.
